About the Artwork
Fragmented geometric forms in tan and cream split the composition diagonally, angular blocks and curved discs interlocking like pieces of a ruin reassembled out of order. The upper field, rendered in warm terracotta tones with raised, sculptural relief, gives way to a flatter cream ground below, cut through with sharp architectural notches and circular motifs.
The title points directly at the work's logic: fragments of form excavated and pieced back together, texture standing in for sediment, color shift marking a kind of strata between the two halves. Archeology treats abstraction itself as a dig site, geometry as artifact, surface as the record of something built, buried, and partially recovered.
