About the Artwork

"Grab The Music" depicts a bearded man in mid-motion, arms raised, exuding energy and fluidity. He wears a blue hat with a small decorative element, a vibrant yellow shirt under a black-and-white striped jacket fluttering with his movement. The contrasting colors and natural lighting highlight his focused expression and pose tension against a background of deep greens, making him the central focus.

Vilkin reveals an intimate experience with the figure and the therapeutic aspect of music. His inspiration is the union of music and man as their courtship begins.

About the Artist

Born and raised in Beverly Hills, Artist Michael Vilkin began painting early. Vibrant colors and shape manipulation inspired his artistic endeavors. Influenced by Franz Marc and the Fauvists, he simplified forms in his work.

Transitioning to ceramics, Michael won county-wide awards before studying psychology and earning an MBA. Additionally, his career in construction and real estate merged with artistic expression in architecture and large-scale mosaic sculptures.

Returning to painting in 2011, he pursued a masters at the Academy of Fine Art, aiming to evoke joy in his work. Battling depression, Michael highlights life's uplifting aspects through vibrant, imaginative themes. Living with a visual deficit, he favors bold colors and imaginative palettes. As a gay man married for 43 years, he finds strength in his relationship, influencing his artistry.
