About the Artwork

Green Tears transforms the image of the tear into an immersive visual language rooted in repetition, materiality, and emotional intensity. Cascading across the surface in layered formations, the tears function not simply as symbols of sorrow, but as accumulations of memory, release, and transformation. Resin, glitter, pigment, and dimensional paint applications create a tactile surface that shifts between painting and sculptural relief, dissolving the boundary between image and object.

The work recalls Gustav Klimt’s ornamental patterning and the material density of postwar abstraction, where surface becomes an emotional and physical experience rather than a passive support for imagery. Here, repetition creates rhythm and movement, allowing the tear motif to expand beyond representation into something atmospheric and immersive.

Historically associated with vulnerability and grief, the tear is reimagined in this composition as a symbol of catharsis, resilience, and feminine power. The painting embraces excess and sensuality, transforming emotion into material presence. Rather than illustrating feeling, the work allows feeling to exist physically within the layered surface itself.
