In this mixed-media assemblage, Aaron Sheppard constructs a fractured psychological landscape where personal mythology, cultural imagery, and material decay converge. Layers of broken architectural forms, found imagery, plaster-like surfaces, and glowing neon create a composition that feels simultaneously excavated and constructed, as though fragments of memory have been unearthed and reassembled into a new narrative.

Recurring female figures occupy the work as symbols rather than portraits, embodying projections of desire, identity, vulnerability, and power. The illuminated heart-like neon form radiates from within the structure, acting as both beacon and wound—a persistent reminder of longing, attachment, and emotional exposure. Cracked surfaces and ruptured planes suggest the instability of memory itself, revealing how personal histories are continually shaped through reconstruction and revision.

Drawing from traditions of assemblage, collage, and Neo-Dada, Sheppard transforms discarded materials and familiar imagery into a meditation on the fragmented nature of contemporary experience. Rather than offering a fixed narrative, the work invites viewers to navigate a layered terrain of symbols, where beauty and ruin, intimacy and distance, coexist in uneasy balance.
