About the Artwork
Ritual of Devotion transforms an antique candelabra into a site of accumulation and release. Layers of melted wax, resin, pigment, and glitter cascade over its surface. What once held light now becomes the residue of it, dripped, pooled, and fixed in place.
The work operates between opulence and erosion. Rich reds, milky whites, and metallic tones gather at the base in a spreading field, suggesting both offering and aftermath. The upright structure remains intact, but its authority is softened by excess, as material overtakes its form.
Suspended between ritual and ruin, the piece suggests the passage of time. Each layer of material marks a moment of transformation, preserved in a state of ongoing flux.
