About the Artwork

"Run to Me" portrays a solitary figure leaning against a railing against a vibrant blue background. Dressed in dark clothing with indistinct facial features, the figure appears lost in thought. Bold, contrasting colors and strong lines create depth and movement, while obscured details add mystery.

Vilkin was inspired by a memory from 1981 of his husband's youthful energy. Instead of focusing on facial features, Vilkin depicts his husband's strength, clothing fit, and agility, inviting viewers to imagine his personality. The intricate railing symbolizes emotional and mental distance, prompting contemplation on solitude and connection. "Run to Me" resonates with themes of mystery, introspection, and human experience.
