Spire 11 (L)

Spire 11 (L) is the left half of a pair made to stand beside Spire 12 (R). Its column is built from a dense mosaic of glass panels in emerald, teal, cobalt and bottle green, broken by occasional flashes of crimson. Instead of the horizontal bands of other works in the series, the color is arranged in small rectangular tiles that overlap and interlock along the full height.

The effect recalls stained glass and forest light at once. Darker panels absorb light while the turquoise and green passages let it through, so the surface flickers between depth and brightness, like sunlight breaking through a dense canopy.

As a pair, the two Spires set up a conversation. They share a palette and a structure but differ in their details, and seen together they read like two trees in a grove or two columns of a gateway. Spire 11 leans toward the cooler blues and deep greens of the pair.

Each sculpture stands independently on its own brushed stainless steel base, and each is complete alone, but the pairing gives both a sense of rhythm and companionship.
