Timeless

Timeless is the most atmospheric painting in Puschmann's recent group. A wide field of smoke gray and warm white moves across two joined panels, and out of it emerge crimson and rose blooms, a ribbon of acid yellow, and dark passages that gather like shadow. The flowers are rendered, then allowed to dissolve back into the vapor around them.

The diptych format matters, and the two panels are deliberately unequal. The seam therefore falls well left of center rather than dividing the work in half, and the composition crosses it as though it were not there. The image reads as continuous while the physical support insists on a break, and that tension between what is joined and what is divided runs through the painting.

Puschmann's stated subjects are transformation, spatial tension, and timelessness, and this work makes the case most directly. The blooms are caught mid-transition, neither opening nor decaying, held in a suspension that has no clear duration. Nothing in the painting fixes it to a season or an hour.
