Biography
Will Binder An Eternal Moment Born in Los Angeles
Will Binder attended UCLA Film School and graduated in 1988. After working on several Hollywood films, he became an award-winning director, winning Game of the Year for GK2: The Beast Within. Yet throughout his life, Binder never stopped drawing and painting, returning always to his first love. Today, he continues to work in Los Angeles, where he lives with his wife and kids. For Binder, a successful painting captures a personal connection between himself and his work—something difficult to put into words but instantly recognizable when viewed. The style, medium, and subject are always secondary to this connection, and every piece begins with a personal resonance that grounds the work. In An Eternal Moment, Binder works with oil on wood to capture the stillness that exists before, between and after thought—a moment of silence where past, present, and future collapse into one. The series gives Greek statues new life, treating them not as relics but as ongoing presences whose essence still resonates today. This series is deeply personal: having a Greek mother, he spent every summer of his youth with his family in Greece. Primarily an oil painter, Binder works in many other mediums: including watercolor, gouache, and acrylics. He seeks to create works that are beautiful and enduring, inviting viewers to sense both his love for the subject and the pleasure he takes in the act of painting.
