Cleopatra

A sense of mystery and storytelling is reflected in ‘Cleopatra,’ the archetypal female figure is
recast by the artist as a modern woman who is complete in her soft feminine energy and devoid
of gender stereotypes whilst embracing her sexuality. The domesticated sake appears as a
symbol of fertility and protection whilst the lapis lazuli background also symbolises truth,
psychic connection, and wisdom. In another sense, these works explore female identity through
accessories such as designer bags and shoes that double up as the armour that we choose to
protect us, by displaying our economic status, and contributing to our sense of sexual agency
and feminine power.
