About the artist

Artist Catherine Ruane is an artist based in Southern California. She earned her BA from San Diego State University and her MFA from Otis Art Institute of Art. Additionally, the Santa Reparata International School of Art awarded her a scholarship to pursue extended study in drawing and printmaking. International museums such as the Villa Donata in Naples, Italy, the Grafiska Sallskapat Gallery in Stockholm, Sweden, the Gallery Antena in Kyoto, Japan, and The Palazzo Della Provincia in Frosinone, Italy have collaborated with the amazing artist.

Ruane’s drawings have been included in museum shows at the Oceanside Museum of Art in Oceanside, CA; the Museum of Art and History in Lancaster, CA; and The San Luis Obispo Art Museum in San Luis Obispo, CA. Furthermore, the Redlands Museum, The Riverside Museum, and the University of Arizona Art Museum in Tucson, AZ have featured her talented work.

Moreover, many private and corporate collections, including CBS Television, Walt Disney Co., Turner Broadcasting Network, Harley Davidson, and Lincoln Financial, feature her work.

Overall, Ruane’s practice embodies nature worship, using drawing as a process of study and note-taking. In her studio, she explores the intersection where the physical meets the mystical. Consequently, she builds images to express the contrast between natural forms and their symbolism.
