“The new work for this show includes four stylized painted wall constructions in wood with the human figure as subject matter. This format is a familiar strategy dating back to work I started in the eighties which took the form of totems and relied on an abstraction, monochromatic color, and heavily worked surfaces. Most of these qualities have carried over to recent work. I am still interested in depicting the human figure utilizing recycled and found wood, abstract and figurative imagery, with descriptive color and texture.”
