‘Rodeo Drive,’ named after the Beverly Hills shopping mecca, shows a Prada 00’ limited
edition remake of the Swarovski crystal covered handbag being snatched up by Hollywood’s
Wicked Witch of the West. The bag here replacing the ruby red slippers, which grant her access
to power. The rabbit who is also synonymous with magic and illusion steps in to compete with
her. It seems to represent the emphasis we put on material consumption and physical
transformation, how we deal with ageing or a sense of not belonging due to physical attributes
that do not fit the mould, drivers of consumerism the world over.
