Artist Emmanuel Meneses’ collection Tic Toc… This Is Not a Bomb presents a striking handcrafted resin sculpture, “Time Bomb”, in chrome. It features 19 chromed-plated metal explosive cartridges connected by silver-plated wires and brass-plated terminals to an analogue alarm clock. The clock’s chrome-plated bells are encased in transparent resin, which has been carefully sanded and polished by hand. The artist aims to highlight the elusive nature of time and the importance of being mindful of how we spend our days. The ticking of the clock and the presence of the time bomb convey the urgency and significance of every passing moment. It serves as a wake-up call, urging us to not take time for granted and to be aware of its preciousness.
“By making the absence of color and the reflection of chrome, I invite to a subjective and objective reflection on your limited existence and the importance of taking action coz’ at any moment, your time could run out. Finding your own reflection in this work gives an additional sense of identity to the observer” (artist Emmanuel Meneses).
